About Us

We, Lucy and Keith, have been passionate about music all of our lives. Both of us studied music as children and enjoyed the benefits of school orchestras and county orchestra. We have been surrounded by music with our family and our chosen careers, we both teach music, and we founded The Belfry Centre for Music & Arts in Overstrand to provide a venue in this rural area for people to come to and immerse themselves in live music and enjoy high quality musicians. We have been hosting Cromer Music Evenings at The Belfry Centre since we opened 8 years ago. We are delighted to have hosted musicians at the height of their career, young local musicians at the beginning of their musical journey and the talented musicians who have been granted bursaries and awards from prestigious bodies such as Making Music, The Musicians Company and The Countess of Munster Musical Trust. All of our concerts are free to children up to the age of 16 so that they can come and enjoy the opportunity to listen to an amazing range of talented musicians.

It has seemed like a natural progression to create an event for Early Music, Keith founded Norwich Baroque with the late Jane Slocombe in 2006 and we are delighted to welcome Norwich Baroque under the musical directorship of Kate Wadsworth to our festival.

In addition to organising concerts and events, we are dedicated teachers, and are extremely proud of the instrument loan scheme we have built up over the years to help encourage children into music who otherwise may not be able to have access to instruments. The Belfry Centre and Cromer Music Evenings also award small bursaries each year to encourage talented local musicians with their studies. If you have an instrument that may be suitable for inclusion in our loan scheme, please get in touch.

We strive to work in partnership with people and we value each and every member of our extensive support network for their advice, opinions, time, energy and knowledge. An event like this cannot take place without the support of countless people, some of whom go completely unnoticed by the public as their jobs keep them in an office, but we would like them all to know that we could not have got this far without them.
